I read the article from paragraph six to paragraph ten. I thought the general ideas of passage was focusing on introducing the four typical traits of happy people, including positive self-esteem, personal control, optimism and extroversion. The four characteristics stimulated the happy people to have good opinions of them, which contributed to their achievements not only in school but also at work.
The author said happy people usually had good opinions of themselves. I couldn’t agree with him. In my opinion, if a person wasn’t modest enough, he won’t gain much experience and he won’t be successful. So how could he have good opinion of himself? How could he feel happy?
I was interested in preposition collocation which showed up in the passage. I considered the prep phrase “in study after study” as a useful phrase. I would think of scores of such kind of phrase from it. For example, the phrase “from door to door”, “one by one” and the like. I could memorize chain of practical use.
