In paragraph 9 the author tells us a kind of people who is the competitive showoffs and then [the author] makes an example to explain his idea.

In this paragraph I found [find] a new writing method that I [have] never seen before. The author use [uses] 5 “-” this punctuation’s function is to stress the emotion. But I do not know why the author uses five “-”. I think “they have more-expertise or money or even aggravation-and better-dentists or children or marriages or recipes-and deeper-love of animals or concern for human suffering” in this sentence the author uses five “-”want to compound this adjectives and make the sentence clearly ,nice.

The word in the first sentence “bunch” I can not understand [I can't understand the word - 'bunch' in the first sentence] . In my opinion ‘bunch’ is a noun and in the Longman Dictionary it means ‘group of things or group of people’ but in the sentence I don’t think it means that I guess it means ‘a(chǎn)rea’ the competitive showoffs want to be the best of every area.
